A Glossary of packaging supplies
Mailroom furniture
Any static items of furniture specifically designed for the use in a mailroom
or post room.
Pigeon hole system
Sorting system with open access bays for the general sorting of post and
internal mail.
Post room sorter
Similar to the pigeon hole system sorter but can also accommodate parcels
in larger bays.
Post room bench
Desk designed for the use and application of mail room and postal room
needs, typically post room benches are heavy duty and can be made modular
with sorters.
Warehouse ladders
Folding ladders and step ladders for made for use in a warehouse environment.
Tape gun
Hand held gun shaped applicator for use with packaging tape for easy application
and safe cutting, many come with brakes to ensure tape is always at a
ready to use stage.
Film cutter
Cutting knife for trimming and safe cutting of packaging film, stretch
wrap and heat wrap, guarded blade means extra safe cutting.
Tape dispenser
Usually desktop system for the easy removal of all tapes, tape dispensers
have a serrated edge blade for the simple tear away use of any style of
adhesive tape. Most are weighted to maintain position.
Bench tape dispenser
Similar to a tape dispenser but usually with a desktop clamp for heavy
duty warehouse applications.
Strapping sealer
Tensioning tool for the sealing and secure locking of steal strapping
and crimping clips.
Clamp seals
Similar in design to office staples but for use with polypropylene packing
straps in a warehouse situation, to be used with a strapping sealer.
Plastic strapping
Heavy duty strip of plastic for the secure strapping of heavy duty packaged
items, to be used with clamp seals or heat sealer.
Tensioner
This tensions the strap before crimping and sealing the parcel.
Heat sealer
For the heated sealing of plastic bags and lay flat tubing products, requires
mains electric power.
Shrink wrap
Clear poly prop film that shrinks to form a tight and secure packing method
when heated with a special heat gun.
Bubble wrap
Wrapping film containing air filled pockets for the extra protection of
valuable contents.
Rubber bands
Circular stretchable rubber rings available in various sizes for use in
many packing and wrapping applications.
Racking
Warehouse style shelving, usually modular and adjustable for total adaptability
of use.
Mail trolley
Mobile device for the easy transportation of internal mail within the
office or warehouse.
Sack truck
Similar to the mailroom trolley but can also take heavier parcels and
boxes from A to B within the office.
Postal scales
Mailroom or post room scales with post cost and rates for the easy assessment
of mail cost for parcels and letters.
Storage boxes
Either foldaway cardboard or heavy duty plastic boxes for the storage
of anything within the office or home.
